Between the Earth & Sky: Intergenerational Interactions of Visibility

Between the Earth and the Sky: Intergenerational Interactions of Visibility brings together youth and older adults living with memory loss through the collaborative construction of two public art installations. Revolving around the winter and summer solstice, this year-long community art project physically and symbolically encompass the themes of “light” and “growth” to promote intergenerational connections, sharing, and understanding.

The project involves the creation of two modular art installations for the winter and summer solstice - December 21, 2017 and June 21, 2018.

Between the Earth & Sky is a collaboration between Charlie Michaels, Anne Mondro, the Youth Leadership Council at Corner Health Center in Ypsilanti, MI, and the Memory Support Center at Brecon Village in Saline, MI. Exhibited as a sidewalk installation at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum in 2018.

Funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts
