Design Science Seminar

DESCI 790/791

This year-long graduate seminar brings together incoming master’s and PhD students in the Design Science program to explore the discipline and develop a shared intellectual community. Through readings, guest speakers, site visits, and group discussion, students examine how design shapes technologies, systems, and experiences, while considering the ethical, social, and cultural dimensions of designed artifacts. The seminar creates space for students to exchange ideas, reflect on their own interests and research, and develop their identities as design science researchers and practitioners. Along the way, students connect with faculty, industry practitioners, and alumni to explore different approaches to design science and potential career paths in academia, industry, and beyond.
